‘The Bridge’ - 12 Nov 2021
A message from Elizabeth
Hello everyone, I am back from my break away to find many things happening.
Thank you to Sandra & Brett who filled in for me.
The works team have been busy at the manse and the church - have you noticed the newly painted fence on the north boundary? It's amazing how a different colour can change how people perceive us.
The Evening Meal is back on under Alert Level 2 and already numbers are back to pre-lockdown, and with many new faces.
St Andrew's Day is next Sunday and of course Christmas is not that far away!

Monthly mid-week communion service:
This Tuesday.
Our monthly Tuesday Communion service has shifted to Tuesday 16 November, starting at the usual time of 10:30am. There will be a light morning tea after the service and an opportunity to catch up over a cuppa.
This is a great service for people who are unable to make it to church on a Sunday, who require a little more time to get sorted in the mornings, or who wish to meet up with others from Levin Uniting during the week.
We hope to see you there.
Losing the Litter
Kia ora e te iwi,
A group of parishioners from Levin Uniting Church, concerned with increased rubbish littering the town, has joined forces with the Horowhenua District Council and Keep Horowhenua Beautiful to tidy up the areas immediately surrounding our church.
Next Saturday 20 November, from 10:00am – 12:00pm, we will meet at church and, armed with gardening gloves, reusable bags, and paint buckets, we will collect rubbish from Adventure Park, Stuckey Street, and around the outside of the church.
Following the rubbish clean-up, we’ll have a well-deserved cuppa in the Hall.
We’d love you to join us! The more the merrier. And, the more who come, the more rubbish we can collect. You can come for as long or as short as you’d like. And you’re welcome to invite family, friends, and neighbours to join!
The District Council has kindly offered to dispose of the rubbish for us and provide additional people power to support the clean-up. And Keep Horowhenua Beautiful will supply reusable bags. All you have to do is bring a pair of gardening gloves and some warm clothes.
Wet weather date is Saturday 27 November.
Saint Andrew’s Day Service
Sunday 21 November, at 10:00am.
Saint Andrew’s Day is a tried and true celebration of the Presbyterian heritage of our Uniting congregation. As well as the rousing music of the bagpipes and the procession of the haggis we will also acknowledge the kirkin’ o’ the tartan, with a difference… We will reflect on the power of cultural taonga – or treasures – and how they communicate the story of Jesus Christ. If you have something that is culturally significant to you and something that helps you to express who you are in the world and the message that Christ communicates through you, then bring it along – physically or in a photo or in your mind. This might include a family tartan, a necklace, a book, a photo of someone significant, or anything else. We will have a time of blessing as part of the service for these taonga.
Following the service, we will have a shared lunch in line with Alert Level 2 restrictions. Please bring a plate of finger food to share (that does not require heating or preparation) and drop it to the kitchen before the service.
We’d love you to join us at the information evening to hear more about this fantastic programme, now available here in the Horowhenua.
Because numbers will be limited due to pandemic restrictions, please contact the Office to register your attendance.
