‘The Bridge’ - 24 Dec 2021

A message from all of us

From all of us at Levin Uniting Church we wish you the unconditional love of God in all the dreams of your heart and your everyday prayers. Merry Christmas.

The Bridge will be taking a short break over the holiday period and will be back in January.

Sandra, Elizabeth, and Brett.
Minister, Parish Administrator, Ministry Intern.

Worship this Sunday, 10am

Please join Brett Reid this Boxing Day as he reflects on "Taking control of what we 'wear.'"

If you would like to read the scriptures before coming, please look at: Colossians 3:12-17.

This service is packed full of Christmas carols, so come along and sing out loud!

An Opportunity for Pastoral Care and Support to the Wider Community!

Age Concern Horowhenua has recently teamed up with New World Levin to co-ordinate the ordering side of their grocery delivery service for elderly clients in the Horowhenua. They are looking for volunteers to phone clients, take their grocery order, and order the food online. The New World team will then pick, pack, and deliver the groceries.

This voluntary work can be done from the comfort of your own home. Or you’re welcome to go into the Age Concern office, if you’d like.

Training is provided by Age Concern. This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to engage with the wider community but who only has a couple of hours free each week.

More and more of our elderly community are becoming isolated. As such, this service is essential, not only because it assists the elderly in the Horowhenua with their shopping, but also because it provides an opportunity to offer pastoral care to those who are the most lonely and isolated.

If you’d like more information, please contact our Community Connector, Brett Reid.

Sunday Evening Meal

Jack and the wonderful kitchen team of Greg, Prue, Linda, Phillena, Gwyneth and others are taking a much needed break over the Christmas period.
There will be no evening meal Sunday 26 December or Sunday 2 January.

Doors to the Sunday Evening Meals and Fellowship will open again 5:30pm Sunday 9 January, and as always assistance is always appreciated at this worthwhile and important ministry.

We wish Jack and the team a blessed Christmas and refreshing break.

Pastoral Care

While many of us look forward to special family gatherings at Christmas, for others of us this can be a lonely and painful time – no family to go to, memories of loved ones departed.

If you or someone you know would like a visit, our Pastoral Care team is on call. Please do not hesitate to call one of the Senior Lay Leaders and they will connect you with one of our visitors.
