‘The Bridge’ - 17 June 2022

A message from Brett

Kia ora e te iwi, greetings everybody,

Mānawatia a Matariki, we welcome Matariki.

This coming week we prepare ourselves for Matariki. While for many of us, Matariki means a new public holiday, there is so much that we as Pākehā and we as followers of Christ can learn from this centuries' old Māori tradition: it is deeply spiritual, deeply connected to God's good creation, and wonderfully revelatory of a culture that cares profoundly for the least, the last, and the lost.

There's a bit going on around the place, so grab a cuppa, get comfy, and enjoy the read.

Ka kite, we hope to see you soon!

Brett Reid

Worship this Sunday, 10am

This Sunday we observe Matariki. Matariki is many things to many people, and it may be unfamiliar to you, so here's a bit of an idea of what to expect in worship this week. We will explore what we, as followers of Christ, can learn about God's grace and goodness from the Māori tradition of Matariki. We will reflect on Psalm 8 and will give thanks to God for the lives of loved ones who have passed away this year and we will celebrate with joy and gladness the year that is to come. I encourage you to read and meditate on Psalm 8 ahead of Sunday. I hope you can make it for this special Matariki service.
