‘The Bridge’ - 10 Dec 2021

A message from Elizabeth

How time creeps up fast - it is only 15 days until Christmas!

Groups are having their last sessions, happy voices are heard and I think a bit of food is being consumed.

Our last issue of the Unite magazines for 2021 has been finished and will be in your inboxes or letterboxes very soon. We hope you enjoy reading it and this week’s online edition of The Bridge.

Elizabeth
Office Administrator.

Worship this Sunday, 10am

This week is the third Sunday of Advent. Join us as we reflect on the topic of 'Joy.'

If you would like to read the Scriptures before coming, have a look at: Isaiah 12:2-6 & Luke 3:7-20.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Didn’t make it to the service last week?

If you missed last week's service, below is the sermon for you to listen to at your own convenience . If you have a YouTube account, hit the subscribe button and you’ll receive a notification the next time we upload a video.

An Opportunity for Pastoral Care and Support to the Wider Community!

Age Concern Horowhenua has recently teamed up with New World Levin to co-ordinate the ordering side of their grocery delivery service for elderly clients in the Horowhenua. They are looking for volunteers to phone clients, take their grocery order, and order the food online. The New World team will then pick, pack, and deliver the groceries.

This voluntary work can be done from the comfort of your own home. Or you’re welcome to go into the Age Concern office, if you’d like.

Training is provided by Age Concern. This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to engage with the wider community but who only has a couple of hours free each week.

More and more of our elderly community are becoming isolated. As such, this service is essential, not only because it assists the elderly in the Horowhenua with their shopping, but also because it provides an opportunity to offer pastoral care to those who are the most lonely and isolated.

If you’d like more information, please contact our Community Connector, Brett Reid.

Hinemoa House Christmas Gifts

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Hinemoa House is unable to run their Christmas BBQ. Instead, they have decided to deliver a Christmas hamper to every home in Hinemoa & Awatea Streets. The hamper will contain homemade biscuits, sweets, information on what services Hinemoa House provides, plus a Christmas booklet for the children and a ‘Hope Christmas’ booklet for the adults.

If you are able to help with baking, deliveries, collating the hampers or donating towards the costs that would be wonderful. Please contact Hinemoa House on 06-368 6030 if you can help.

Pastoral Care

Do you know of someone who could benefit from a pastoral phone call? Please contact the Senior Lay Leaders.
